These areas are common to all spheres of work and are to be viewed as a package. The four areas are: planning, implementation, assessment and evaluation. If you are looking at organizational skills workshops that focus on planning, it would involve a thorough study of the background of the company, firm or organization. One would need to know the chain of command and the span of control within the organization, in order to understand where the planning activity can be carried out and by whom. It is easy to instruct a group of people to plan; if the plan that these people make is usually superseded by someone in authority, there would be a breakdown in the morale of the group. Similarly in organizational skills workshops that concentrate on implementation, one needs to take a close look at the problems that one might encounter while implementing a plan that has been formulated. Targets to be achieved also need to be kept in mind while teaching organizational skills in actual implementation of work. When it comes to the remaining two activities, namely, assessment and evaluation, organizational skills workshops are indispensable. You wonder how you were ever able to achieve even the smallest thing till now, without assessing and evaluating your work hitherto. All along, you have just been following instructions, fairly blindly, without giving much thought to the erratic feedback of your higher-ups. There is no doubt that you need constructive criticism and feedback in order to put you on the right track. The bottom line is therefore quite clear: workshops and seminars and organizational skills, throw open a lot of things for discussion. Brainstorming sessions help you find the right answer to the most trying question that has been bothering you for a very long time. The point is to be able to identify your need as an organization and ensure that the workshops conducted satisfy that need , to the best extent possible.
